About 8 out of every 10 adults in the U.S. gamble. But only 1 to 4 out every hundred become compulsive gamblers. What characteristics of the 1 to 4 % of the adults turn them into problem gamblers?

Some people can gamble for entertainment and never cross the line into compulsive gambling. Others place one bet and become compulsive gamblers.
