Ben,

Good for you Ben. Gamblers anonymous is a great program and you don't have to do it by yourself. Just focus on today Ben, don't gamble today. One day at a time and go to as many meetings as you can; they really help. May your path be filled with recovery.

Approaching Day 1
Submitted by Dale P on Mon, 2007-06-11 21:26.

Ben:
I remember taking that first step by making that phone call to a GA member. I then attended a meeting that evening. Today is Day 75 for me. Things are going well and my GA Family is great.

Keep going to your GA Meetings; call your sponsor when you feel an urge to gamble; call others if you have a phone list.

I decided I would not be ashamed of my illness and have told people I work with; my pastor; friends, etc. that I attend GA Meetings. I show them my GA coin and everytime I get a new key chain (30 Days; 60 Days) I show people because I am proud of what I have accomplished.

I know if I ever slip and gamble again that I need to just pick myself up and go back to GA because I WILL NOT BE JUDGED by my GA family. They will be there supporting me.

Just take One Day At A Time and trust in God (or a Higher Power of your own understanding).
